Nicknamed the Steelmen, Appleby-Frodingham FC were one of the founding members of the Lincolnshire League after World War II.
In the mid-1970s they played in the Midlands League before moving to the Northern Counties East League.
In 1986, the year of the steelworkers' strike, the team and management moved, mid-season, to Winterton Rangers.
Frod re-formed sometime later and after three years in local football returned to play in the Lincolnshire League in 1990.
The early and mid-1990s were the club's most successful period, winning the League, County and Challenge Cups.
After 13 years in the Lincolnshire League the club joined the Central Midlands Premier Division for the 2003/04 season.
Managed by Mark Jenkinson and John Simpson, Frod finished fourth which, along with the reorganisation of the leagues, was enough to promote them to the Supreme Division, where they have remained. Last season they finished 13th in the league.
