So Thompson is fit again and pushing for a place, should he be back in the starting line up?

He says ""Spadge (Matt Sparrow) is playing well and he's playing in my position, but I can play up front as well."

The team is playing well and that is reflected by the league position. But with goals being conceded and points dropped is it time for a small shake up and could that see Thompson back in the side?

Thomo says he can play up front, but that shouldn't happen whilst Hayes and Hooper are fit. Forte has just had a go and not really impressed and with Ben May scoring a brace for the reserves it must be his turn next for a serious chance up front if either of H&H are unavailable.

So a return to midfield? Sparrow has excelled in recent weeks, been in the goals and looked one of the Iron's hungriest players. Hurst, Morris (and Forte) are offering competition with Hurst starting to look sharp.

If you agree that Sparrow's best position isn't on the wing but in the middle then perhaps Thomo could get back in? Matty looks wasted when he's not on the ball and with McCann spending a lot of time chasing shadows perhaps its time to swap Sparrow into the middle to get him more involved and offer more competition for places. With games in three different tournaments there should be some scope for rotating the team a little - and ultimately if our squad is good enough that should not be at the expense of results. Or should we stick with the same team in all three competitions?

Not yet ready for a return I don't think.

Sooner see Matty in the middle with Dog and Hurst on the wing - he's got the ability to do well in this league and his confidence is on the up

Thompson had a fairly decent game in the reserves yesterday. He was certainly strong in his position. Sparrow is the man for me at the moment though. He is showing the hunger the squad needs. I think he could play in any position at the moment and have an impact on the games.
Thompson is certainly the player to bring into midfield if things start to go wrong. Togwell and McCann have not been a big presence the last couple of games.
Perhaps a shake up would keep them on their toes?

I don't see how Sparrow can be dropped after the way he's played recently.
Thompson on the bench and bring him on to ease him back into the first team.

Phonie seems to be a favourite word on here. Perhaps that's as far as your mentality goes. Thompson had a good game for the reserves the other day. Did you see him? No I thought not.
So, Togwell is out for the Leicester game. Thompson would be a good replacement.
I suppose you still want Adkins to go to Huddersfield also?
